List of all blog articles across the Community, but excepting one or more categories

I'd like to create a custom page that lists all blog articles across the site, but excepts one or more categories. Display parameters (e.g., ORDER BY) are less important than excepting the archives. ...

    when I put the JS into a component and save it, it executes from inside Studio, and I had to blow away the component entirely, lest it hang up Studio

    this you can easily avoid by wrapping your JS into an #if block, like so:

     

    <#if !page.name?matches('BizAppsPage')>
    <#-- add your JS, but not in the backend -->
    <@liaAddScript>

    </@liaAddScript>

    <#-- or simply -->
    <script>
        // here goes your JS
    </script>
</#if>

     

     

    Regarding the API call I can't really help right now, Lithium/Khoros just locked everybody out of the Dev-Docs Portal (they did a redesign there...), e.g. looks like this when trying to access the API v2 message collection...

    You can try to update your code with the following

    <#assign articleList = rest("2.0","/search?q=" + "Select * from messages where board.id='AroundtheStorageBlock'"?url) />
<#if (articleList.data.size?number > 0) >
<#list articleList.data.items as article>
<#-- your code for list comes here and you can acess detail about each article eg-->
<p><a href="${article.view_href}">${article.subject}</a></p>
</#list>
<#else>
<p>No articles in the given board ID</p>
</#if>

    The anchor would create the link to the article's details. 

    Hope that's the solution required.

I'm now at the point where I've got a working proof of concept, except for the fact that the command "crawl_boards" maxes out at 1,000 articles, then generates a "page 2" link, where the rest are (or there could be more, I suppose). I'm assuming "crawl_boards" is a platform command.

So let's say I have this:
<#assign articleList = "SELECT * FROM messages WHERE board.id = 'AroundtheStorageBlock';" />

How do I list the output from articleList?

This seems so simple, but the documentation assumes one already knows how to do it.

    You can use the API v2 version

    Use the Freemarker #list statement for this:

    <#list articleList.data.items as article>
  <p>${article.subject}</p>
</#list>

     

    Within the <#list></#list> statement you can access every attribute of the article or message object as its named in Khoros.

    Thanks. Quick question:

    I assume this follows the <#assign ... statement? Otherwise, there's know way for the interpreter to know which blog to list.

    I get a Freemarker error as soon as the interpreter hits the <#list statement
    <#list articleList ....
    (line 3, column 8 is the "a of articleList)
    Below is the error (if the platform will let me paste it)

    NonHashException:For "." left-hand operand: Expected a hash, but this has evaluated to a string (wrapper: f.t.SimpleScalar):
==> articleList  [in template "preview" at line 3, column 8]

----
FTL stack trace ("~" means nesting-related):
	- Failed at: #list articleList.data.items as article  [in template "preview" at line 3, column 1]

     

    My pure HTML skills are much better than FreeMarker, and after years of "real" SQL, the way the platform does queries is confusing to me.

    Wow, that's getting me really close to where I need to be. The only thing I need to do is convert the "subject" to the link, i.e., URL. I tried replacing "article.subject" with "article.webui.url" per the reference (https://developer.khoros.com/khoroscommunitydevdocs/reference/khoros-communities-platform-apis) and the list of data types on the left, but I got an error.

    The output of my custom page is now:

    BrightCove Embed Code Generic Version

    BrightCove Embed Code Manual Version

    Some article

    Test Article With Table

    ....
    All I need to do is convert this to

    BrightCove Embed Code Generic Version

    BrightCove Embed Code Manual Version

    Some article

    Test Article With Table

    ...

    (fake URLs)

    Thank you! Above and beyond! It works perfectly, and now I can replicate for the rest of the blogs. I'll probably stick a variable into the board id, and call it out of a menu.
