rest api vs rss feed for search

so we're trying to better integrate forums with the rest of our support site. From the documentation, we can't figure out how to use the rest api on our site so are looking at using the rss feed for a search item on a specific search term (we have a very flat forums structure, not enough activity), but when we subscribe to the rss feed, although it was /t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?filter=labels&q=dm100 for the filtering, the feed provides /rss/search?q=dm100&filter=labels&search_type=thread. No matter what we filter on, the rss feed does not match the search results tab

    Hi Lisa,

when you say that you can't figure out how to integrate with the REST API - are there specific areas that are causing issues? There are plenty of examples of successfull integrations so it may be just a case of overcoming the initial hurdles. Additionally, to infuse community content in the broader content of your organization you can also look into activecast and see if it provides you a quick win for some of the things you are trying to achieve.

In response to your specific question - what do you mean by "the rss feed does not match the search results tab" ? Are you saying that when you search and get a list of resuls in your browser, then the RSS backed feed for that search does not have the same content as seen in the web page? I feel that in this case you may be wanting to surface very specific information, and for that it could be that the REST Search API is definitely better tailored to give you these results (in which case we go back to my original point above).

    Many Thanks,
