Setting the value of a custom content via api

Hi Folks,

I would like to know if it feasible to set the value of a custom content via a rest api post ?

My use case is the following if there is a freemarker variable X set in the announcement widget then fill automatically a custom content with the value of var X.

If you have any idea I'd happy to hear them :)
