Unread Post component error. Wrong Author

I suggest raising this with our support department so that they can check the actual specification for that component.

This could be by design (i.e. to display the author of the latest post within that topic) and may just need some appropriate wording.

I will file a support ticket. But it is definitely not by design. If you go to the link I posted, the author column clearly says "posted by ..." So it should be the author of that post, not the most recent post.

I think what Paolo may have been getting at is that the column on the component itself is titled "Latest Post". So the content it is showing you is the latest post in the thread in which that particular unread message occurs. I can see where this would be confusing if there are multiple unread posts from the same thread, but it may be as designed since the column is "Latest Post". Our Support team will be able to help track that down with our Product team.
