Using Labels Across Several Applications to be Displayed on One Page

I'm looking to create a custom page that displays the latest discussions, solutions and knowledge base articles in three coloumns. 

I would like the information to be displayed based on a set of pre-defined labels. I want the labels to filter the results of discussions, solutions and articles based on the label selected. I'm just looking to try this out to see if it is possible. 

Not sure where to start :-(
