Where is this mysterious footer coming from?

So in studio, I modified the footer, removed all the components from it. The footer clearly changed, however, there is still a footer with other data. There's a <!-- footer start -->   in the HTML as well. Where is this footer data coming from? It has the copyright info. The footer component is empty. It feels like magic!  How do I track down where  a piece of HTML is appearing? I tried the toolbelt, but it won't even let me scroll the page that far down.
