About Aurora Search

Aurora provides a robust search tool so people visiting your community can quickly find the information they need. In the community, people can search for content at the community, category, or board levels. Based on the search keyword or phrase, the search engine fetches the topics that include the matching keyword in title, content, replies, and attachments of the posts. It also fetches the people and places available in the community based on the search keyword or phrase.

Search Options

Aurora Communities offers the following search options:

  • Spotlight search: Searches for content, places, and people across the entire community. On the top-right of the page header, you can find the Spotlight search.

  • Embedded search: Searches the content only in the specific category or node (Forums, Blogs, KBs, and so on). Embedded search automatically constrains the search to the location you are currently located. In any node or category, you can find the embedded search field:

For example, if you are in a forum, the embedded search looks for content only within that forum.

Note: Using embedded search, you cannot search for the content, places, or people in other parts of the community.

  • Does Khoros have any feedback yet on how this is being received? One of the consistent annoyances I have on Atlas (for example) is the contextually aware search...which is a kissing cousin to the complexities associated with all the different content repos (categories, boards, forums, learning centers, etc).

I'm constantly having to unselect the context; or go find where I should be searching; I don't have a catch-all answer, each community is it's own animal but multiple search bars  feels like an evolutionary dead-end.

  • Lief We acknowledge the confusion caused by the presence of two search bars. We will be revisiting this shortly with the objective of providing a better search experience.
