Aurora Analytics Dashboard use cases
This article walks you through a couple of common scenarios that community managers can answer using Aurora Analytics Dashboard.
Note: Currently, users can see the metrics up until the previous day in Aurora Analytics.
Scenario 1:
To understand how the engagement levels in the community is changing, Community Managers can see and compare the metrics from a previous time range in the Dashboard.
For example, a Community Manager may expect a spike in the traffic to the community as a response to a promotion campaign. They can achieve this by adjusting the Dashboard Settings to the place where the campaign is on the community, setting the time range for which you want to see the impact, and comparing it with another period to see the percentage change.
Let's see how you can set these parameters on the Dashboard settings:
- Go to Analytics on your community.
- Select the time period for which you want to view metrics.
- Now, to set the rest of the settings, open the Options menu and select My Dashboard Settings.
A window to edit and adjust the Dashboard settings opens -
To select the place where the campaign is running, choose A specific place and select the location on the community. In our example, we select "Products."
-
To compare the metrics for the current 7 days with the previous 7 days (from the current day), choose Previous Period under Data Comparison Time Frame
- Click Save.
The dashboard displays metrics for settings chosen. It also shows the options that we chose. - Now, to compare the engagement levels from a previous time range, that is, from the previous 7 days from the current day, select Previous Period.
- Hover your cursor over the date on which you want to see the spike or dip in engagement.
Scenario 2:
Consider a scenario where you want to view the discussions that were newly created and are trending for the last 30 days in your community. Also, you want to see how members where engaged with these discussions. Assume that you want to qualify a topic as trending if it was viewed at least 10 times over a period of 5 days.
Let's see how you can set these parameters on the Dashboard settings:
Go to Analytics on your community.
First, we set the time period:
- To select the time period for which you want to view the metrics.
In our example, we select Last 30 days.
Now, we will set the options to consider only those topics that were newly created in the last 30 days:
- To filter out only those topics that were newly created in the last 30 days, click
+ Filter. - On the window, choose New topics
- Select True to filter out only newly created topics.
- Click Add.
We will now set the definition for trending topics:
- Set the parameters that define Trending topics. In our example, we define a topic as trending if it was viewed at least 10 times over a period of 5 days.
- Click Save.
With the above steps, we have set all the settings to meet our need. The dashboard now shows the metrics for the options we have set.
Now to view the engagement on these trending topics.
- Select Dashboard and select Forum Details.
- Scroll down the dashboard to view the New and Trending Discussions widget.
- Hover your cursor over the With Replies section on the graph.
A table displays the engagement on these new and trending topics.
