Aurora: Report inappropriate content

To build a trusted community, it is important for members to engage with each other by providing solutions or discussing opinions through posting content or interacting with that content. Even though we'd like to believe that everyone in our community is there for the greater good, we must not ignore a few other members who obstruct the community's growth by posting inappropriate or abusive content.

In the community, members with permissions can report any content they find inappropriate. When a member reports a post or reply, the post or reply is sent to the Abuse management page, where Moderators review the reported content and take further action. Learn more about Abuse management.

When you report a content, the content stays live on the community till the Moderators take necessary action in the Abuse management page. When Moderators confirm the content as abuse, the content gets removed permanently from the community, and you cannot recover the content.

To report a post:

  1. In the community, go to any post that you find inappropriate.
  2. Open the Options menu, and click Report.
    The Report Content window opens.
  3. Optionally, enter Details about why the content is inappropriate.
  4. Click Report Content.

A message is displayed indicating that the content has been reported and sent for the moderation team to review the content.

After you report the post, the post is moved to the Abuse management page, where a Moderator reviews the post and confirms or ignores the reported content.

Similarly, you can report a comment or reply added to any post:

Note:

  • When anonymous users try to report inappropriate content, the sign-in window is displayed where they must register before they can perform this action.
  • The Report option is not available to the post’s author, as authors cannot report their own posts.

  • When the content is reported, the reporter has the option to put in details. Where does a moderator see those details? The Abuse tab in Moderation shows a few columns, but not the details. I tried clicking the post to see if the modal shows it and going to the post itself to see if there are any tags on there. Nothing.. Sometimes it is really ambiguous on why these posts are reported and the details are useful. Also, is there a way to make the details not optional. Reporting a post should require some explanation..

HeavenMit's a little hidden but on the "Abuse" tab, if you click the number in the total column, you will see who reported it and the comment they left.
