Just wondering is /messages/id/[id] /edit the only way to added additional Labels to a post via the REST api?
We are looking for an alternative such that the message doesn't actually show up as "Editied"..
Any ideas?

You are correct, there is not a separate method for adding labels. If you'd like to see additional REST API methods for managing labels, I'd encourage you to submit your ideas via our Idea Exchange.

Regarding editing, there are ways you can remove the edit text in general, but that may be overkill for your purposes. Unfortunately, there's not really a good way to suppress it just for edits that were due to labels.
