Enabling read/unread icons in the category level

I would like to enable the read/unread icons based on user behavior. The default icon in the category level is the unread icon whether there’s an unread message in forum boards belonged to the category or not.

    welcome to the Developer forum. Would you be able to share a bit more detail on what are you intending to achieve?  What do you mean exactly with "based on user behavior" ?
