PM spam?

It looks like the Lithium Spam tools only works for public messages and not for PM's. A quick search in this community shows that there's a good amount of discussion on the topic with ideas on the ability to combat private message spamming. Some relevant ideas can be found here

 

There is a report option in your PM inbox should you wish to report this to Lithium.

 

We actually have the same issue on our English community. Lots and lots of spam through private messages of scammers pretending to deliver official branded support by (paid) phone.

We have had to take drastic measures to combat this situation. A couple of things we did was 

- Limit the amount of PM's to be send within a certain time frame (which was hurting our experts and support agents as they do have a need to do this sometimes)

- include a note on the PM page to warn users for scammers who pretend to be an official representative

- Take the "send private message" permission away from new users (by role)

- With the release of a new Single Sign On system we now have email verification :-) Also helped a lot to combat public and private spamming.

 

 

Reporting Spam in PM

Spam in Private Messages: Did you receive a suspicious Private Message from another user? To report this issue to our team, email us at communityhelp@lithium.com and we'll handle the abuse as soon as possible. Please include the username and content of the message you received.

(Actually, AndyK, this section should be updated, I assume there is no longer a need to email the above address as there is a Report option now. Seems like this enhancement idea "the ability to report spam in PM" was delivered" in release 15.10)
