Aurora: Report inappropriate private messages
To build a trusted community, it is important for members to interact with each other by providing solutions or discussing opinions via private messages. Even though we'd like to believe that everyone in our community is there for the greater good, we must not ignore a few other members who send inappropriate or abusive messages.
In the community, members with permissions can report private messages that they find inappropriate. In a private message, they can either report an entire conversation or a specific reply they find inappropriate. When a member reports a private message, the message is sent to the Abuse management page, where Moderators review the reported message and take further action. Learn more about reviewing reported private messages.
When you report a private message, the message stays live in the inbox until the Moderators take necessary action on the Abuse management page. When Moderators confirm the message as abuse, the message gets removed permanently from the inbox, and you cannot recover the message.
To report a private message:
- Sign in to the community and click Inbox (envelope icon).
- From the left panel, click the message you want to report.
- To report an entire conversation, open the Options menu on the root message and click Report Conversation.
To report a reply, open Options menu on a reply and click Report Message. - In the Report Conversation or Report Message window, optionally, enter the Details about why the message is inappropriate.
- Click Report.
After you report the message, the message is moved to the Abuse management page, where a Moderator reviews and confirms or ignores the reported message.
