To bolster the security and integrity of your community platforms, we are rolling out AWS Bot Control for all Khoros Communities customers this month. This AI-powered solution is designed to detect and block malicious or unapproved bot traffic, safeguarding your platform against scraping and unauthorized access while maintaining optimal performance.

We’ve rigorously tested this update to ensure a seamless deployment with minimal impact on legitimate users, ensuring there’s no associated downtime. Should you notice disruptions to approved bot traffic, such as crawler integrations, please contact support to request an exception classification.

This initiative underscores our commitment to providing a secure and reliable experience for all Khoros Communities. For more information about AWS Bot Control, refer to Amazon’s documentation

While AWS Bot Control offers an efficient way to battle spam from bots, there are additional tools and strategies available. For more information, check out the following resources:

Note: This update is for communities on AWS.

Hi Lief – we don't expect this to happen often, but if a legitimate user is impacted, they would see a 403 Forbidden message in their browser. AWS Bot Control is still being rolled out, so some communities may not see this just yet.

This is fantastic news. I hope this will mean I can, at some point, remove all or most of my legitimate user friction points (e.g., Mod Approval required)

RE: this part "ensure a seamless deployment with minimal impact on legitimate users"

Can you provide me with a sample experience that a legitimate user might get in a false negative condition? Like...if a real person is impacted negatively as an edge case, what might they see/experience?
