Member Experience

Authentication

As part of 24.08, we made a change that affects Aurora authentication. We changed the value of a secret config that will have the effect of invalidating any currently existing Aurora authentication cookies. As a result, Aurora members will effectively be signed out of the community and have to sign in again after the release is deployed.

Administrator Experience

Manage Users

The Manage Users page became available in Communities Aurora v24.06 with the introduction of the Delete Users functionality. With this release, two new features are available on this page:

To create a test account:

    1. Open the Account menu.
    2. Go to Settings > Users > Manage Users.
    3. In the Add New Members area, click Add Member.
    4. On the Add Member window, enter the following information:
      1. Username
      2. Email address
      3. Password
      4. Roles
    5. (Optional) If you want to apply roles and settings from an existing account, turn on the Inherit roles and settings from existing member toggle and enter the Username or User ID of the account with settings you want the new account to use.
    6. Select Create Member.

For more information, see Create test accounts for troubleshooting.

Edit existing member details

If you need to adjust a member’s username, email address, password, roles, or SSO IDs, you can now do so from the Manage Users page.

To edit existing member account details:

  1. Open the Account menu.
  2. Go to Settings > Users > Manage Users.
  3. In the Manage Members area, enter the Username or User ID (ID number or member profile URL) of an existing member.
  4. On the Manage Member window, update the following as needed:
    1. Username
    2. Email address (you can also Mark email as verified if necessary)
    3. New password
    4. Roles
    5. (SSO members only) SSO ID
      Note:
Be sure to update this field only when necessary, such as when SSO ID conflicts arise. Otherwise, the member may inadvertently create new accounts upon sign-in.
    6. Select Save.

Refer to Manage member account details for more information.

Developer Experience

Configurable Page Scripts

This update enables you to configure JavaScript page scripts to run during page loads, facilitating functionality such as analytics, web tracking, performance metrics, and more.

Khoros has incorporated this feature into the community repository so that you may continually update and add to your community's script library via Git. Find out more in Configurable Page Scripts.

You found it. We fixed it.

Accepted Solutions

  • Replies marked as a solution immediately after being posted now appropriately show the Accepted Solution status without a page reload.

Badges

  • Badges migrated from a Classic Community with no associated image no longer cause pages to fail to load. Badges in these circumstances are also given a default image.

Follows

  • The Follow option (bell icon) is no longer visible on community pages in communities with notifications turned off.

Profile Cards

  • Profile cards no longer get cut off when you hover your cursor over an avatar with the browser window zoomed to 150%.

Search Results

  • You no longer have to click More Filters on the search results page to restore invisible filter options, like Tag or Location.

SEO

  • URLs with .tsx extensions are no longer being crawled by Google, which eliminates 404 errors and dead links appearing in the Google Search Console.

SSO

  • The RP-initiated Single Logout (SLO) now successfully ends both Community and OP sessions in Aurora Communities.

Table of Contents

  • When you select links in the Table of Contents in a post, they now correctly bring you to the correct corresponding sections of the post.

Widgets

  • Selecting tabs on a widget no longer causes the widget to temporarily disappear.
  • Correct Like counts now appear on hover cards.

Version 4.0
  • To edit a user's username, I received an error message when trying to add an underscore - It says the username can only be alphanumeric. Is this expected?

MohammedF- Thank you for your response! Will this be the same for when new users register for an account? Currently, usernames allow underscores and dashes, as outlined here. Is there a plan to make this experience consistent?
